It’s interesting how we automatically assume that we humans have gotten smarter because we have developed more technology in the past 100 years. But look at the Bible! Here’s Psalms 135:7, “He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.” He refers to evaporation, long before the theory was developed!

Also, in Isaiah 40:22, “He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.” Isn’t that something! The Bible talks about the circle of the earth, hundreds of years before we figured it out! How can Atheists declare that the Bible is untrue? Here’s cold hard evidence.

So a lot of people wonder how everyone in the Bible knew about all this. Here’s a theory we came up in youth group: What if Adam, when he used to walk in the Garden of Eden with God, was told all of these things about the world? Then he passed the wisdom down to his children, then they passed it down to their children, and so on. And somehow, it all got lost when we hit the dark age of science? They may have known things about the world that we don’t know! The Word of God truly is incredible!

Alright, I haven’t posted in about….6 months, but hopefully I’ll get on here much more and encourage some other believers in the faith, even if that means 5 people, that’s 5 people encouraged in the faith.

So here’s a topic that God has convicted me about a lot recently, it’s the topic of openness. So what do I mean? Well if we as Believers aren’t able to “ spur one another on toward love and good deeds” as it says in Hebrews 10:24, we might as well not profess Christ at all. If we state and even pray that God is the center of our life, He has to be the center of everything in our life. We don’t simply base our life on Christ, we fill it with Christ. Our conversations, our songs, our friends, everything has to be centered around Christ. even if we’re walking down the street, we have to walk down the street to God’s glory.

So what do I mean by openness? We as believers should have no hesitation to be open with our fellow believers about our walk. If we’re struggling with something, we need to tell each other so we can, spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Biblical friends are one of the most important things in a Christian walk. Please be open with believers. Influence is the #1 reason why so many “Christians” fall into sin. If we stop our relations with people we know are not walking in the Lord and replace those friendships with Godly friendships, we become more like God, spurring each other on to good deeds.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8)

Why do we sin? Well the truth isn’t as simple. To know that truth what first must be understood is how sin came into the world. Did Adam simply spontaneously sin for no reason? No, the sin came from an initiator. Not Eve, but the devil, the king of the earth. Satan is completely responsible, and for that he is forever cursed, promised to suffer in hell for the rest of eternity along with those whom he corrupted. So why do we sin? We sin because sinning is pleasurable. The truth is, if we didn’t enjoy sin, we wouldn’t do it. We enjoy it so much because it increases our pride. Pride, the love of self. The only time we don’t sin is when we humble ourselves, and the only time we humbles ourselves is when we worship God. Satan designed sin to completely divert our attention from God, so when we praise the Lord, we refrain from sin.

Satan made a mistake. Satan wanted to be like God, and therefore blasphemed. God did not stand for it. He would not have other angels following Satan’s example and turning from Him. God punished the devil with an agony worse then anything in the universe: separation from Him. This punishment caused Satan to hate the Lord with an everlasting hate, one that still exists in him today. The devil is in unimaginable agony, the agony of separation from Christ.

Most of us picture hell as a true lake of fire. We picture others being tossed into the fire and burning forever. However this is simply a Biblical illustration. The true torment of hell will be separation from the Lord. At this statement, most people wonder how or why this is possible. Well even unbelievers have a sense of God.  But in hell this slight connection vanishes, and humans are in complete agony. The only thing holding us together is that small connection with God. He is the only thing protecting us from the wicked hand of the demons. Unbelievers aren’t capable of understanding this, and therefore continue to sin.

Satan is in complete agony. His agony is so terrible that even if God offered him a second chance, he would refuse it, rather to suffer in hell for eternity than be with his greatest Enemy. People in hell experience a sense of this torment, but no one experiences it like Satan. This torture is what causes Satan and his followers to tempt us here on earth. That is their way of payback, their only way. Unfortunately for them they cannot inflict total pain on humans because of the sovereign hand of God. That is all because of His grace. People don’t realize what God has done for us, and so they continue to sin. If people could fully understand, they would sin less. Even believers, those who claim to follow Christ don’t understand the full meaning. Don’t waste your life. Think of the greatest experience you have ever faced. Maybe a trip to a gorgeous landmark, marrying your dream girl, tasting something unforgettable, anything. Fully experiencing the Lord in Heaven will be tens of thousands times greater than all those. Every minute for all of eternity. We will never grow weary of seeing Christ, always praising His holy name.

Why do we constantly forget the Lord? Think about eternity. If you waste your life, so often putting things off, remember that when you go to hell, you will ask, “Why?”. Remember that hell will be thousands of times worse than the worst experience you’ve ever faced. Don’t waste your life. Live for Christ.

Yes indeed. After 7 long, miserable months, it is almost time. Almost time to finally kick some rear-end in the playoffs this year. So you ask, How? Well, I’ll give you two words: Brandon. Marshall. Yes, I’ll take three straight 1000 yard seasons anytime. With a QB  like Chad Henne, we could be unstoppable. Go Dolphins!

And Jesus answered him, “It is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.’ (Luke 4:8)

Most unbelievers claim to be good people when you try to share the gospel with them, but the truth is:

None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one. (Romans 3:10-12)

No, not even Christians are righteous. Christians are not saved by deeds, but by faith and repentance. So what is repentance? Repentance is showing the Lord that you actually care about your sin by asking for forgiveness. If it’s honest and you really do care about your sin, you will sin less. That is repentance. Not a little apology to God every time you sin, it won’t mean anything unless you change.

It’s also interesting to think about how the Devil works in people’s lives. Most Christians feel comfortable doing everyday things like driving to work, washing the dishes, or watching TV, because the Devil is telling them that they are not doing anything wrong. However, the truth is not so. Everything you do that does not glorify God is sin, so we must glorify God in the small things. You ask, “How do we glorify God while doing something else?”. Well, it’s not what you do, but how you do it. Strange as it sounds, you should be washing the dishes to the glory of God. You do it by seeing Him through the dishes. Why are you washing dishes? To give glory to God. Not to make the kitchen neater but to show care in the things God gives you. If we praise God in everything we do, we won’t sin. We know that we have been saved when we do this naturally in our lives.

Guess what? We’re back! Camp ReGeneration was such an amazing experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to call it one of the best times of my life. We had the privilege to hear three incredible speakers: John MacArthur, Rick Holland, and Austin Duncan from Grace Community Church. Now the games and activities were great, but something else stood out to me this week. I am not afraid to admit that I have never known God fully until after this camp. After listening to MacArthur’s last sermon I realized why I was struggling spiritually. Most people believe that if you have one moment where you experience God it will cause you to react like a believer for the rest of your life. However, I am here to tell you that if you’ve only felt near to God once, you cannot be saved, and thus, are going to hell. We must be near God all the time, and every time you are being distracted from God you must remind yourself  that you are here to worship Him. Everything that a person does that does not focus on the Lord is sin. Even if you are singing worship music but focusing on what you will do afterwards you are sinning. The devil wants us to believe that things like watching TV are ok, but in the eyes of a majestic, glorious, jealous God, we are completely rebelling. Even thinking about God is sin. Anything that is not praising or honoring Him is sin. If we spend a long period of time without praising what God has done for us, we cannot be saved. We must remind ourselves of God every time we lose sight. We only can have confidence in our salvation when we reach the point where we do this naturally. That is what I learned this week.

Well  those of you who were unable to go this week I strongly encourage you to go next year. Even if you aren’t a student, go with your local youth group. I promise that you will be forever changed.

I’ve always thought that being a critic would be one of the most enjoyable jobs ever, and now I get to have a taste of being one myself. How could I resist? Well here you go, my first movie critique (and what a film to start with!):

This afternoon I got a call from my older sister telling me that she saw the most incredible movie she’s ever seen, the film Inception. This wasn’t the first I heard of the movie, I saw a commercial for it about a month ago while watching an NBA game. I immediately had a desire to go and see it. So just what is Inception? The plot is very vague and unclear to the simple-minded and ADD prone, but I’ll do my best.

The movie begins with a man named Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), a world leading specialist in extracting information from people’s minds. However his career comes to an end when he is convicted of a crime and is forced to run away from his home, leaving his two beautiful children behind. As Cobb continues in his practice, he is approached by a rich man named Saito, who gives him a proposition. Saito will pay off Cobb’s crime if he agrees to invade the mind of a man named Robert Fischer, the heir to a multi-million dollar oil company. Saito wants Cobb to use his unique talent and convince Fischer to make a fatal decision for the company, all by invading his dreams. However, after Cobb enters Fischer’s mind, he discovers that this man is no ordinary dreamer. Fischer’s mind had been extensively trained to defend itself of intruders. Cobb and his team soon turn from trying to complete a mission to simply getting out alive.

Wary of being a spoiler, I will stop there.

After seeing this movie, I literally had goosebumps. The utter brilliance of the story is enough, but add in cinematography like you’ve never seen before, great acting, and staggering CGI, you get a flawless movie. That is what I came out with after seeing Inception, along with calling everyone I knew as soon as I left the theater. And trust me, there were no flaws in this movie. It was simply perfect.

As far as seeing this from a Christian standpoint, there is something that most believers should be aware of. The story is magnificent, but there are several philosophies and world views that are greatly skewed and misunderstood. All you have to do is have Godly discernment and do not let yourself be affected by the persuasiveness that comes with the views of most movies.

Also, be careful how you view Cobb’s wife, Mol. She does not dress appropriately from a Christian standpoint, and if you have a lusting problem in your life, I would suggest staying away from this movie. Only go if you know you can have discernment.

So, would I see Inception again? Well, I’m seeing it again tommorrow! This was by far the greatest movie I have ever seen. So what are you wating for? Go see it!

Our family’s computer finally broke down last month  after years and years of service so it’s unfortunately been a long time since I’ve last posted on here. Sometimes things don’t work out, but then again, sometimes they do. See? I’m on the computer now, right?

Anyway, here in North Carolina something mysterious is happening. The weather has been consistent. Now those of you who live here know what I’m talking about. Usually it’s raining one day, completely dry another, scorching outside the next, but recently it’s been one thing and one thing only: hot, dry and miserable. Something new is in the air. Right now the sun is shining into the room, and with every glance into it’s harmful rays I’m reminded of it’s pain. What has happened?

Oh, right. It’s summer.

Well I suppose it’s time to break out the sunscreen, and take the sun full on. Hey, I’m from Florida, I should love the heat. Well, I mean the literal heat, not the Miami Heat. Sorry, I am not a LeBron fan.

So remember, see summer as God’s gift of relief from winter!
